Much has been said and written about the Gimblett Gravels area being fantastic for Syrah. Babich was a pioneer of this region and this wine comes from the famous Babich Irongate vineyard. It is an accessible middleweight Syrah that's big on berry fruit, sprinkled with spice and pepper.

Gravel Track pays tribute to the long gravel and limestone track that winds its way through Barossa Valley Wine Company's historic 60-year-old Farms vineyard. This wine shows vibrant plum and blackberry characters on the nose with hints of chocolate and earthiness flow through to a rich, bold palate packed with dark fruit flavours. Juicy and fruit driven, powerful yet elegant and with hints of black pepper spice through the mid-palate lead to a rich, velvety tannin finish.

Church Road Grand Reserve Syrah has a core of dark plum and berry fruit is overlaid with classic Hawkes Bay Syrah perfume of violets, exotic warm spice and cracked black pepper, supported by subtle oak toast. On the palate the wine is full bodied but fine textured with a gentle tannin structure. A balanced acidity brings length and freshness to the palate and a sense of subtle, lithe power without excessive heaviness. Enjoy this wine paired with savoury game and red meat dishes.

Church Road Syrah expressed the warm climate of Hawke's Bay perfectly with ripe plum, cherry and hints of spice. A wine of great depth, the fruit expresses as ripe berry and black plum, with top notes of violets, lavender, liquorice and anise. A more serious, brooding nature with darker complexities of warm earth, new leather, cedar, cacao and savoury roasted notes along with an underlying ferrous minerality typical of this vineyard. The palate is fine, full and long with a silky tannin structure giving an overall impression of elegance, completeness and restrained power. Will age gracefully for 20 years or more.

The vines originate from a Heritage clone of Syrah brought to New Zealand around 150 years ago. Produced from the gravelly soils of the Gimblett Gravels, this distinct Syrah shows an aromatic lift of floral and pepper aromatics with lushness and elegance on the palate. Deep red with a purple hue. Tremendous aromatic lift, with lavender and sweet cherries rising from the glass. The palate has significant density but a perfect balance that already encourages drinking.

'De la terre'; literally 'of the earth' is a reference to both the vineyard soils and the earth brick construction used for the winery and cellar door. De La Terre's winemaking methods are largely traditional with emphasis on minimal handling to retain the integrity and concentration of fruit. Food and wine matching is a particular focus; the wine style is designed to provide elegant wines to accompany food.

Hand-picked grapes from Elephant Hill's Gimblett, Bridge Pa and Te Awanga vineyards have all contributed to this Reserve Syrah. A wine with elegance and concentration that will reward cellaring. Red licorice and raspberry with undertones of smoky barrel spices. A wonderfully balanced Syrah.
