A refined Hawke's Bay red crafted from premium vineyards in the Gimblett Gravels and Bridge Pa Triangle. The free-draining alluvial soils of Gimblett Gravels yield intensely concentrated fruit with firm tannin structure, while the iron-rich red metals of Redstone Vineyard contribute supple texture and aromatic lift. The result is a balanced, complex wine led by dark berry and plum flavours, layered with notes of lavender, rosewood, cedar, and hints of cacao and vanilla. A savoury, earthy depth adds intrigue, while the medium-full palate offers generous mid-palate flesh and a long, finely structured finish, promising excellent cellaring potential.

Church Road Grand Reserve wines are produced only in exceptional vintages. The very best low-cropping vineyard blocks are targeted for selective hand-harvesting to yield wines with the greatest possible flavour, depth and concentration. The Grand Reserve Pinot Noir is wild fermented with a proportion of whole bunches. Dark cherry and sweet berry fruit is lifted by alluring floral and spice notes, complimented by underlying earthy complexity and subtle French oak. On the palate the wine is fine and supple with excellent textural length.

Church Road Grand Reserve Syrah has a core of dark plum and berry fruit is overlaid with classic Hawkes Bay Syrah perfume of violets, exotic warm spice and cracked black pepper, supported by subtle oak toast. On the palate the wine is full bodied but fine textured with a gentle tannin structure. A balanced acidity brings length and freshness to the palate and a sense of subtle, lithe power without excessive heaviness. Enjoy this wine paired with savoury game and red meat dishes.

The McDonald Series wines are an expression of both their fruit and the vision of their namesake winemaker. This full-bodied wine is packed with layers of rich berry fruit, cassis and dark cacao notes, along with lifted cedar and thyme aromas. While impressive now, the powerful yet fine-grained tannin structure ensures great longevity. This wine is unfined and unfiltered to preserve quality. A wine of great depth, the fruit expresses as ripe berry and black plum, with top notes of violets, lavender, liquorice and anise. A more serious, brooding nature with darker complexities of warm earth, new leather, cedar, cacao and savoury roasted notes along with an underlying ferrous minerality typical of this vineyard. The vines originate from a Heritage clone of Syrah brought to New Zealand around 150 years ago. Produced from the gravelly soils of the Gimblett Gravels, this distinct Syrah shows an aromatic lift of floral and pepper aromatics with lushness and elegance on the palate. Deep red with a purple hue. Tremendous aromatic lift, with lavender and sweet cherries rising from the glass. The palate has significant density but a perfect balance that already encourages drinking.
